Calibrating GSI audiometers and tympanometers

The ACS has built-in setups for 14 Grason-Stadler (GSI) instruments, and every one of them runs under full automatic control. Select the model, start the calibration, and the ACS sets each test point, measures it and adjusts the instrument to ANSI S3.6 and IEC 60645.

Supported GSI models

Every GSI model the ACS calibrates

Automatic control means the ACS talks to the instrument through its serial or USB port: it sets frequency, level and channel itself and adjusts the instrument to the standard, and you only step in to change transducers.

GSI model not listed? It can still be calibrated: set it up as a User Defined instrument with its own test configuration. See GSI on the full instrument list.

How it works

A GSI calibration, start to finish

  1. Select the GSI model

The ACS loads the right calibration routine and sets the headphone type and impedance for that model.

  2. Connect and start

Connect the instrument’s outputs to the ACS interface, and on automatic-control models its serial or USB port. The ACS steps through every test point, recording the values it found before any adjustment.

  3. Print the certificate

Every result, the GSI and transducer serial numbers and the standard used, with your company logo. What a certificate should include.

Questions

GSI calibration questions

Does the ACS adjust a GSI-61 by itself?

Yes. Under automatic control the ACS sets each test point on the GSI-61 and adjusts its output to the selected standard. The technician is only prompted to change transducers.

Can the ACS calibrate GSI tympanometers too?

Yes. The GSI-37, 38 and 39 AutoTymps and the TympStar V1, V2 and Pro are supported, with probe tone level, compliance, pressure and reflex tests to ANSI S3.39.

How often should a GSI audiometer be calibrated?

Under OSHA hearing conservation rules, an acoustic calibration at least yearly and an exhaustive calibration at least every two years. Calibration schedules.
