Product overview

Precise calibration, quickly and easily.

The ACS is an accurate and efficient system for calibrating audiometers and tympanometers. It meets both ANSI S3.6 and IEC 60645 specifications.

Overview

The software works in conjunction with a high precision data acquisition module, interface box, microphone, and associated couplers. Your computer connects to the measurement system via a USB cable and performs highly accurate acoustic and electrical tests.

125 audiometer and instrument models have built-in setups (see the list). If yours isn’t listed, it can still be calibrated: the User Defined option lets you set up a custom test configuration. All test parameters are fully adjustable and can be saved and loaded from configuration files as needed.

Detailed test results in both tabular and plot form are stored and can be printed if desired. A calibration certificate containing a condensed listing of all test results, audiometer and transducer serial numbers, microphone, mastoid and coupler details, and calibration standards can be printed and given to the customer (see a sample certificate).

The software

The hardware takes the measurements. The software makes it fast.

The ACS isn’t just a microphone, coupler and data acquisition box. Most of what sets it apart from other calibration systems is in the software. Click any screenshot to see it full size.

Automatic control of 73 audiometer models

This is what other calibration systems don’t do. Automatic control is available for audiometers that support it: the ACS talks to the audiometer through its RS232 serial or USB port, sets the frequency, level and channel for each test point, takes the measurement, and can adjust the audiometer to the calibration standard. In fully automatic mode the technician is only prompted to change transducers.

Audiometers without that interface are calibrated in manual mode, with the ACS prompting for each setting and measuring the result. The instrument list shows which models support automatic control.

Hands-off testing you can still follow

Once a calibration is running, nobody has to watch the screen. The technician can calibrate other equipment or get the documentation ready while the ACS works. Passing and failing readings each have their own tone, so you can tell what the system is doing from across the room. On screen, out-of-spec values show in red next to the target and the measured difference.

A certificate ready for the customer

When the calibration is done, print a certificate with your company logo. It lists every test result, the audiometer and transducer serial numbers, the microphone, mastoid and coupler details, and the standards used. Anything out of spec is printed in red.

Every calibration on record

Results are stored as tables and plots for every audiometer and transducer. You can view the values from before any adjustments were made, page back through earlier calibrations to spot a drifting headphone, and copy the data into Excel or Word. The ACS also keeps track of your customers, audiometers, headphones and companies.

The hardware

One compact interface box. Everything plugs in.

The audiometer, headphones, bone oscillator, microphone and mastoid all connect to the ACS interface, which connects to your computer by USB.

Test modes

Manual, user controlled or fully automatic.

Manual

You are prompted to set frequency, level and channel for each test point. The system provides audible feedback and waits for you to adjust the audiometer until it is within a user definable threshold before proceeding to the next test point.

User controlled

For audiometers under serial or USB control: the system controls and adjusts the audiometer for each test point. You decide which test section to perform.

Fully automatic

For audiometers under serial control: the system controls and adjusts the audiometer for a full battery of tests. You are only prompted to change transducers.
